NC Engagement Photographer - Kendra & Josh

Kendra and Josh are getting ready to tie the knot in May. I had the great pleasure of doing their engagement photo shot at Reynolda Gardens in Winston-Salem, NC. I also had the pleasure of taking Josh's musician headshot and looked forward to meeting his fiance. I didn't get to meet Kendra until the day of the shoot and I immediately felt like I had known her for years. Just a wonderful girl and we had a ball doing the photo shoot. Josh is a great guy and a fantastic trumpet player and I wish the two of them nothing but the best. Enjoy!

Welcome to our Blog.

2014 was our Seventh and best year to date! Over the past 7 years we have evolved into more of a corporate studio than anything else with approximately 90% of our business being commercial and the other 10% being a mix of portraits, families etc. Commercial work can be both challenging and rewarding. Challenging, because you have to have a very good understanding of manipulating light. After all, the word photography literally means “light writing”. This is a skill that must be practiced and improved upon constantly. I often read profiles of photographers who call themselves “natural light photographers”. That is all well and good but they are only dealing with half of the equation. We are all “natural light photographers” but one must also have an understanding of how to introduce “artificial” light into the equation and make it appear to be natural….. or NOT. The work is rewarding because of this unrelenting pursuit of lighting “perfection”. I put that in quotes because like in the case of music, photographic perfection can never be achieved, it is merely something for which we strive. (I’ll stop myself now before getting too philosophical for a photography blog.)
